Champions in the three Hagyard MidSouth Three-Day Event were named and the Training, Novice, and Beginner Novice winning teams were crowned in the competitive Hagyard Midsouth Team Challenge at the Kentucky Horse Park.
All three Three-Day Event leaders retained their positions on a crisp, sunny cross-country day at the Kentucky Horse Park, while the Team Challenge competition continued in full swing.
Kate Berta and Vince Berta's Thoroughbred gelding Bourbon trotted into the lead today in the 40-rider Training Three Day division of the Hagyard Midsouth Three Day Event and Team Challenge. Their fluid and focused test earned the pair a 32.9, putting them 2.5 points ahead of the next-placed Jonathan Ketzler on Sal.
Jodie Stowell and Comet, a 13 year-old Appaloosa- Thoroughbred cross that she raised from a two-year-old, took home the top honors at the Indiana Eventing Association Training Three-Day Event June 3-6. Finishing on their dressage score of 35.9, the two put in two flawless jumping phases to take home the blue and a bevy of prizes in the most recent event in the SmartPak Equine/ USEA Classic Series.
This past May, I was lucky enough to volunteer at Indiana Eventing Association’s Training Level Three Day Event (T3DE). At a classic event like a T3DE, after the two phases of roads and tracks and the steeplechase phase the horses have their vital signs and soundness checked by a veterinarian before heading out on cross-country.
