IDHSNA/USEA Future Event Horse Series Update

By USEA | January 6, 2012

The IDHSNA/USEA Future Event Horse Committee has enacted a few changes for the 2012 season. The first major change is that a horse must now receive a minimum qualifying score of 68% to be eligible to compete in the FEH Championships.

The 2012 FEH Championships will be held in three locations:

East Coast: October 5 at Morven Park in Leesburg, Virginia
Central: October 11 at Willow Draw Farm in Weatherford, Texas
West Coast: October 20 at Ram Tap in Fresno, California

The competition arenas for all FEH shows are now required to be enclosed with fencing of reasonable height and have a gate that can be closed and latched while horses are being presented. This was enacted for the safety of the young horses so they cannot leave the arena if they get away from their handlers.

Changes have also been made to the judging guidelines including putting emphasis that the first impression should be of an event horse ‘type’ meaning a horse that appears naturally structured to become an all-around athlete.

The USEA is also encouraging owners to submit a copy of their horses’ pedigrees when they are registered so the USEA can start to gather the information needed to create a searchable database in the future.

IDHSNA/USEA Future Event Horse Competitions currently scheduled for 2012 are:

Flintridge (March 10)
Meadowcreek Park (March 16)
The Ark (April 1)
Ram Tap (April 13)
Greenwood Farm (May 3)
