Land Rover Burghley Horse Trials 2021 Cancelled Due To Continued Covid-19 Uncertainty

It is with immense sadness that we announce the cancellation of Land Rover Burghley Horse Trials 2021 which was due to be held later this year from September 2-5, 2021.

Despite the continued easing of lockdown measures, the nationwide vaccination program, and the hope within the Government Roadmap for unlocking the country, there have been and remain too many variables and uncertainties due to the Covid-19 pandemic to deliver this much-loved international event.

A Priceless Performance at the Land Rover Burghley Horse Trials

New Zealand’s Tim Price retained the lead he held after cross-country to take the title at the Land Rover Burghley Horse Trials with Ringwood Sky Boy. Fifth here last year, the pair produced one of just eight clear show jumping rounds to complete on 27.3, ahead of last year’s winners Great Britain’s Oliver Townend with Ballaghmor Class on 31.9 and New Zealand’s Andrew Nicholson and Swallow Springs on 32.1.

Lenamore Leaps To Land Rover Title

Lenamore and British-based New Zealand rider Caroline Powell kept their cool to produce a clear round when it mattered most, to win The Land Rover Burghley Horse Trials. The pair also produced their own piece of Burghley history; Caroline is the first New Zealand female winner – and the first from New Zealand since Blyth Tait in 2001 – while Lexi Mackinnon’s 17-year-old Lenamore is the oldest horse to win the Land Rover Perpetual Challenge trophy.

Mission Accomplished For Carousel Quest

Oliver Townend and Carousel Quest are the undisputed winners of this year’s Land Rover Burghley Horse Trials. Oliver couldn’t have dreamt of a better result. The combination produced a clear round show jumping to add to their clear round cross-country yesterday and of the 80 starters finished the three days of competition a comfortable eight penalties ahead of the 49 who completed.
