James Alliston was the big winner today at The Event at Rebecca Farm, with three top two finishes in the FEI divisions. Alliston won first in the CCI4*-Long, as well as first place and second place in the CCI3*-Long.

Cross-country day for the FEI competitors at Rebecca Farm resulted in big changes in the top three standings in the 4* divisions. The current top three riders in the CCI4*-Long all put in double-clear rounds to maintain their dressage scores from the first day of competition.

Rebecca Farm FEI dressage scores are tightly packed

The FEI competition at Rebecca Farm continued today with the CCI3*-Long, CCI4*- Short, and CCI4*- Long dressage. With scores ranging from the mid-20s to the low 30s, the standings in all divisions are tightly packed.

First-day leader sets the stage for FEI competition at Rebecca Farm

The FEI competition kicked off on a strong start today with the CCI2*-Long dressage. The top three riders are veteran competitors at Rebecca Farm, although their horses are all fairly new to the level.

Tommy Greengard and his self-owned horse, Joshuay MBF, a seven-year-old Dutch Warmblood, scored a 25.4 to lead the division. Tommy said that his horse was super today and that, although Josh isn’t really a “natural dressage horse, he really lights up in the ring in all the best ways. He is naturally very relaxed, and he allows me to show him off in the ring. And he doesn’t get too bothered by the atmosphere.” Tommy also said they’ve been working hard to improve the suppleness that’s introduced in the lateral work at the 2* level, and Josh was really with him all the way today.

This has been a difficult decision, but with the current pandemic situation at hand, we feel that this is the correct and ‘common sense’ direction to take. We are developing a plan to host a shorter, smaller, and more focused competition. We will be using state and local protocols to help guide us through this. Safety is paramount at Rebecca Farm, for both equine and human participants.

Volunteer recruitment is underway for The 2018 Event at Rebecca Farm. In its 17^th year, The Event will be held July 18 through July 22. In 2016, The Event at Rebecca Farm generated an incredible $5.5 million in economic impact for the Flathead valley and attracted people from around the world.

Halt Cancer at X, a local initiative that provides funding for national breast cancer research and local support services, announced today the four recipients of their 2017-2018 Community Grants. The approximately $51,000 in funds were donated through the efforts of Montana Equestrian Events during The 2017 Event at Rebecca Farm.
