Baughman Reigns Supreme as Dressage Concludes at MARS Maryland Five-Star

Five-star dressage continued today, October 14, at the 2022 MARS Maryland 5 Star at Fair Hill presented by Brown Advisory and welcomed the last 12 pairs of the 24-horse and rider line-up into the arena. Though the day saw some of the sport's best, Woods Baughman (USA) and C'est la Vie 135 couldn't be caught and hold on tight to the lead going into tomorrow's cross-country with 27.2 penalties.

Baughman is Best on Day One of Dressage at the 2022 MARS Maryland Five-Star

The second year of five-star competition returned to Cecil County today to commence the 2022 MARS Maryland 5 Star at Fair Hill presented by Brown Advisory, with 12 of 24 entries contesting dressage on day one. Woods Baughman (USA) and C'est la Vie 135 topped the leaderboard in the final ride of the afternoon, heading into Saturday's cross-country test on 27.2 penalties.

Behind The Lens: Tokyo 2020

Wow! What a whirlwind of a week. The eventers worked their magic in Tokyo, and now have their first female Olympic champion after Julia Krajewski won individual gold for Germany at Tokyo 2020.

The British team won Olympic eventing gold for the first time since 1972. They topped the dressage, increased their lead considerably after cross-country, and, despite both individual leader Oliver Townend and third-placed Laura Collett both having a show jump rail down, they finished 13.9 penalties ahead of the Australians, who took silver.

Kahl and Bletzacker Welcome USEA Classic Series Wins at 2021 IEA Horse Trial

IEA Horse Trial in Edinburgh, Indiana, hosted the year’s first USEA Classic Series Three-Day Event on June 3-6, 2021. Offering Training Three-Day and Novice Three-Day divisions, the event drew a total of 37 entries – 13 in the Training Three-Day and 24 in the Novice Three-Day.

The Training Three-Day welcomed a victory for Brooke Kahl and Nata Montada SCF, her own eight-year-old Belgian Warmblood gelding (Baldev x Whinny II), with 31.9 penalties. Second went to Sarah Younger and her own Power Trip, who were sitting in sixth place after dressage but finished with a score of 33.9. Third went to Hannah Maloney riding her own Phoenyx to 35.8.

The Cats Earn the Crown: University of Kentucky Wildcats Team Wins the 2021 USEA Intercollegiate Eventing Championships

It was an impressive first USEA Intercollegiate Eventing Championship victory this week for the University of Kentucky. Though the school brought eight teams to the competition, it was the University of Kentucky Wildcats Team comprised of four talented young riders: Cosby Green, Ivie Cullen Dean, Caroline Dannemiller, and Abbey O’Day, that took home the title of 2021 USEA Intercollegiate Eventing Champions.
