The Foothills Equestrian Nature Center (FENCE) Horse Trials in Tryon, North Carolina runs once a year as a part of Area III’s calendar in mid-April and offers Beginner Novice through Preliminary levels. FENCE is open year-round to equestrians, hikers, and birdwatchers, and hosts 9,000 elementary and high school students each year as a part of their outreach programs.

The Intercollegiate Team Challenge at FENCE this past weekend was a huge success. Everywhere you looked there were groups of blue, orange, and red. These were the groups of riders and their supporters from the University of Kentucky, Clemson University, and the University of Georgia that gathered to compete in this first such contest in our area.

The FENCE Horse Trials scheduled for March 31 to April 1 in Landrum, South Carolina has been canceled."Due to scheduling conflicts in Area III FENCE is canceling its April Horse trials and will reorganize its intentions for 2013, please look to join us next year," said FENCE Equestrian Director, Ronald Piccari.

It was a weekend of firsts at the SmartPak Equine/USEA Training Three-Day Event at FENCE Horse Trials, in Landrum, SC. The first time FENCE hosted a Training Three-Day. The first Training Three-Day of 2010, and the first rider of the day took home first prize.

The first SmartPak Equine/USEA Training Three-Day Event of the 2010 will be held at FENCE in Landrum, South Carolina (Area III) on April 2-4.
