Waredaca Horse Trials in Laytonsville, Maryland hosted the only 2017 USEA Classic Series events in Area II at their fall event, October 19-22, 2017. In addition to a full horse trials for Beginner Novice through Preliminary levels, Waredaca also offered Training and Novice Three-Day divisions. There were 24 competitors in the Training Three-Day and 28 in the Novice Three-Day.

Tuesday Summer Schooling Evenings There are two Tuesdays left – Aug 2 and 16. Featuring Dressage Fix a Test and Jumping Schooling Rounds with a FUN, competitive Gamblers Choice for each height level offered for 2’7 and above! Anyone that participates in the Show Jumping has the option to school cross country at a reduced rate.* (Option not available on August 16 which precedes the August Recognized Event. October in Maryland means only one thing for fans of Classic format eventing – the SmartPak/USEA Training Three-Day at the Waredaca Horse Trials. This year 27 riders competed in three divisions for the chance to experience the ‘thrill of the chase. The Training Three-Day Event at Waredaca, sponsored by the Area II Adult Riders and part of the SmartPak USEA Classic Series, has a rich history of drawing in long-format enthusiasts from far and wide, and last weekend’s event proved to be no exception. Over 40 riders from across the East Coast travelled to the popular facility in Laytonsville, Maryland to enjoy a weekend of education, excitement, and camaraderie with their fellow eventing peers.

Boys ruled at the Spalding Labs/USEA Young Event Horse competition at Waredaca Horse Trials in Unity, Maryland with two geldings and their male riders rising to the top of the four 4-year-olds and eight 5-year-olds who contested the event.

The SmartPak Equine/USEA Area II Adult Riders Training Three-Day Event at Waredaca Farm in Laytonsville, Maryland hosted 37 riders in three divisions. The event was a huge success with all but two riders completing the exciting long-format course. When it came time for the award ceremonies, it was three grey horses that earned the blue ribbons. D.C. McBroom aboard Twain won the A division on a 35.30 having added no additional penalties to their dressage score.

The Spalding Labs/USEA Young Event Horse competition got in just under the wire as the sky opened up with thunderstorms last Friday at the Waredaca Horse Trials in Unity, Maryland. The competition was first-class with 13 horse and rider combinations competing in the five-year-old division and 10 in the four-year-old division. Four-Year-Old Division
