The 2018 Kentucky Three-Day Event will host a new CSI3* show jumping competition as part of its schedule of international equestrian competition. Equestrian Events, Inc. (EEI), producer of the Kentucky Three-Day Event, in partnership with the Split Rock Jumping Tour will host the new $225,000 Invitational Grand Prix.

Since 1981, Rolex has been the title sponsor of the Kentucky Three-Day Event, but starting in 2018 the company, which has become synonymous with the event, will step down as title sponsor. Equestrian Events, Inc. (EEI), producer of the Kentucky Three-Day Event, has unveiled a new logo and a new website, www.kentuckythreedayevent.com.

Allison Springer and Arthur were entered to compete at the Rolex Kentucky Three-Day Event for an impressive eighth time this year, but in the lead up to the event it was discovered that Arthur has developed a new heart arrhythmia. After extensive testing it was concluded that the 18-year-old Irish Sport Horse gelding (Brandenburg’s Windstar x Kelly) should be retired from upper level eventing.

After success from the last two years, the United States Eventing Association (USEA) is excited to announce that “The Event College at Rolex Kentucky,” presented by USEA’s Professional Horseman’s Council will be returning to the Rolex Kentucky Three-Day Event this year. The special event is designed to educate the general public on the sport of three-day eventing, and will be taking place Friday, Saturday, and Sunday during the competition.Anyone can attend “The Event College” as a student and tuition is free!

Meghan O’Donoghue, 26, and her amazing pocket-rocket Thoroughbred, Pirate, have taken the international eventing world by storm the last few years. An Area IV born-and-raised event rider from Carbondale, Illinois, O’Donoghue has always had her sights on reaching the top of the sport. She competed at her first Rolex Kentucky CCI4* in 2013, finishing as the top placed rookie, 12th place overall. O’Donoghue and Pirate have since been back to Lexington for Rolex in 2014 and 2015, finishing 17th and 21st respectively, with clear cross-country rounds both years across difficult courses.

In an equine-filled weekend of television, on the heels of the Kentucky Derby, NBC will broadcast highlights from the Rolex Kentucky Three-Day Event presented by Land Rover on Sunday, May 3.
