USEA - Horse Registration Policy and Search
Updated: 2007-06-19
USEA Horse Registration Policy All horses competing in USEA recognized competitions must be registered with the USEA (except horses at the beginner novice level). Once registered with the USEA, the horse's registration number will stay the same, regardless of change in owner.
All horses must have a minimum of LIMITED STATUS registration with the USEA in order to participate in USEA recognized competitions at the Young Event Horse Test, Novice, and Training levels. This is a lifetime registration which would only need to be upgraded if the horse moves up to compete at preliminary or above. All horses must have FULL STATUS registration with the USEA in order to participate in USEA recognized competi¬tions at the Preliminary level and above. This is a lifetime registration. All horses with LIMITED STATUS registration must be upgraded to FULL STATUS registration prior to competing at the Preliminary level.
To register, upgrade, or note change of owner, rider or the horse's name, please log into the Online Horse Life Registration through the Dashboard, which also has membership renewal and member information updates available. Also available is the Horse Life Registration Form. Please send it, along with payment, to the USEA office.
Future Event Horses All horses must have a minimum of FUTURE EVENT HORSE STATUS registration with the USEA in order to participate in USEA Future Event Horse tests. This level of registration is valid through the horse’s three-year-old season and does not allow for competition in recognized horse trials or Young Event Horse tests.
Young Event Horses All horses must have a minimum of LIMITED STATUS ($40) registration with the USEA in order to participate in USEA recognized Young Event Horse Tests.
Beginner Novice Horses Registration of horses and membership of riders competing at the Beginner Novice level is not required except where the owner/rider wishes the horse and rider to be considered for USEA Leaderboards, Year-End Awards and/or earn qualifications for USEA Championships. Horses must have minimum of LIMITED STATUS if owner/rider wishes the horse to be considered for awards and championships.
Novice and Training Level Horses All horses must have a minimum of LIMITED STATUS ($40) registration with the USEA in order to participate in USEA recognized competitions at the Novice and Training levels.
Preliminary , Intermediate and Advanced Horses All horses must have FULL STATUS ($150) registration with the USEA in order to participate in USEA recognized competi¬tions at the Preliminary level and above. All horses with LIMITED STATUS registration must be upgraded ($100) to FULL STATUS registration prior to competing at the Preliminary level.
High Points and Qualification Policy As a courtesy, the USEA will attempt to notify riders/owners of missing horse registration requirements prior to competition and will allow fourteen (14) days from the date of notification for the horse to be brought into compliance. After fourteen (14) days, any high-score points and/or AEC qualifications earned at that specific competition will be removed. Should the horse continue to compete without proper registration, at the fourth occurrence all points and all qualifications will be removed. When the horse is properly registered, qualifications ONLY will be re-instated. Riders and/or owners are ultimately responsible for ensuring their horses have proper registration to compete in USEA recognized events, YEH Tests, and FEH tests.
Year-End Awards For Year-End Awards, the USEA has established a cut-off date of November 15th for inquiries about horses’ and rid¬ers’ competitive records. While we make every attempt to ensure the accuracy of our members’ competitive records, we realize that errors do occur. It is the responsibility of every owner/rider to verify their horses’ records. This may be done using the Horse Qualification Search page on the website through the USEA Online Services Dashboard. Any questions regarding competition records can be directed to results@useventing.com or contacting Competitions at 703-779-0440 ex 3012.
Failure to comply with the USEA Horse Registration Policy shall result in the loss of earned points and future entries may not be accepted.
Horse Registration Search If you have recently bought a horse and are unsure if it has been previously registered with the USEA, search our database for USEA horse registration numbers.
