Five venues in the U.S. put in a bid to be the host of the next CCI4* competition – the second in the U.S. and only the seventh in the world. In January, the United States Equestrian Federation (USEF) Board of Directors narrowed it down to two venues to host a new CCI4* eventing competition beginning in the autumn of 2019: Fair Hill and Great Meadow. The next step is for the USEF to announce their decision of which venue will be put forth to the FEI for final approval.

We catch up with Richard Jeffery who is the USEF Eventing Show Jumping Course Advisor about the new program for reviewing the show jumping courses at every FEI competition in the U.S. Course Designers will be asked to submit their courses as posted to Jeffery with all technical details (distance, time allowed, etc.) within five days of the competition.

Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday of this week was a whirlwind with USEA’s Instructors’ Certification Program (ICP), Future Event Horse Program (FEH) and Young Event Horse Program (YEH) teaming up to offer an ultimate educational symposium in Ocala, Fla. Legendary horseman Chris Ryan, who is known for sourcing some of the most successful event horses in the world like 2008 silver medalist Mckinlaigh, was the lead clinician for the FEH program, and Le Lion d’Angers champion Chris Burton was the lead clinician for the ICP and YEH groups.
