After nine months of training 302 Thoroughbred horses that retired recently from 62 different racetracks across North America are on their way to Lexington, Kentucky. Their destination is the Retired Racehorse Project’s Thoroughbred Makeover and National Symposium Presented by Thoroughbred Charities of America on October 27-30 at the Kentucky Horse Park.

Off-track Thoroughbreds proved once again that they are the horses with heart at the 2016 Rolex Kentucky 3-Day Event. Finishing a four-star takes toughness, and doing it in the rain takes Thoroughbred blood.Fifteen off-track Thoroughbreds (OTTB's) started the competition and all but one finished. That is an almost unheard-of 93% completion rate. Five of the OTTB's finished in the top twenty.

Lexington, KY - New Vocations Racehorse Adoption Program invites the community to celebrate the initiation of construction on their new retired racehorse adoption facility at Mereworth Farm on Wednesday, June 24, at 11:00 a.m. The ceremony will take place at the construction site on the corner of Dolan and Bethel Roads in Fayette County. Boyd Browning of Fasig-Tipton, Elliott Walden of WinStar Farm and Hall of Fame jockey Pat Day will speak during the short program. A light lunch will follow.

Thoroughbred auctions are commonplace both in the U.S. and abroad, and play a major role in the marketplace of Thoroughbred race horses. However, a recent auction in the U.K. saw the sale of several Thoroughbreds for a very different purpose.

After three Horse Trials Molly Kinnamon’s, MK’s Concord Dawn is leading the Plantation Field Equestrian Events Inc. (PFEE) Thoroughbred Competitive Series with 12 points.  MK’s Concord Dawn (Jockey Club Registered Name: Mason) is a 6-year-old bay gelding by Smart Guy out of the Eastover Court mare Delta Street. Bred by Janet and Tim Ritchey, the latter a former event rider himself, this Pennsylvania-bred has won two Novice divisions at the Plantation Field Horse Trials since the Series began.

The eventing demo at the Thoroughbred Makeover at Pimlico this weekend will include Anthony Patch and Laine Ashker at approximately 4pm Sunday. Laine plans to show her recent breakthroughs in dressage and demonstrate the phenomenal jump that has made him one of the toughest horses to beat on the US eventing scene. Laine will also participate in the 10:30 am Trainers Forum.
