Young Event Horse Judging Forums To Be Held at Championships

Two educational opportunities will be held at this year's USEA Young Event Horse (YEH) Championships on both the East and West Coasts. Marilyn Payne will be offering an educational forum for current eventing judges, riders, trainers, owners and breeders on the East Coast, and Bea di Grazia will be hosting the educational forum on the West Coast.

Participants in the forum will sit as a group with Payne or di Grazia to observe all phases of the competition. Everyone will have the opportunity to practice judge, compare notes, ask questions and discuss the fine points of factors such as scoring range, how to evaluate the gallop on the flat versus over fences, and anything else unique to YEH judging. Current YEH judges are encouraged to attend to use the clinic as a refresher course.

The West Coast workshop at Woodside international will take place Thursday, October 5, 2017 from approximately 8:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. The East Coast workshop at Fair Hill International will take place Thursday, October 12 and Friday, October 13, 2017 from approximately 10:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. each day. A more detailed schedule will be available once the competition schedules are set this fall.

Educational materials and scoresheets will be provided, but attendees are encouraged to bring their own clipboard and writing utensils. There will be no fee to attend the forums, and attendees will be responsible for bringing or purchasing their own lunches. To register, please send an email to Rebecca Lertora ([email protected]) indicating which forum you would like to attend.
