Leesburg, Virginia – The United States Eventing Association (USEA) Board of Governors is pleased to announce the availability of funds for safety and educational projects. The Board is committed to finding innovative endeavors which will improve safety, offer new educational opportunities for USEA members and advance the sport of eventing.
The Board believes that funding education and safety projects, which benefit all levels of eventers, will help increase the overall safety of the sport. Accordingly, the USEA’s Safety and Education Committees are requesting proposals from the public for projects that will grow and facilitate education and safety for competitors, instructors, officials and volunteers.
“The Board made it clear that they wished to look outside of the box of current USEA programs. While the USEA has numerous valuable programs related to safety and education, we felt that this infusion of funds could help energize the public to help advance the sport even further” said USEA President Carol Kozlowski.
At the Board’s August meeting, funds were set aside to this end and a Task Force was formed to develop a Request for Proposals (RFP). The USEA Executive Committee has now reviewed and approved the RFP for release to the public. Proposals should be submitted to the USEA no later than June 1, 2017. The USEA expects to narrow down the pool of proposals by July 3, 2017 at which point the applicants will be notified with additional guidance or instructions. The entire process should be completed by August 16, 2017. The USEA may fund projects of merit in an amount up to $50,000 per proposal.
These funds have become available through sound financial management of the Association and the generosity of donors to the USEA. In keeping with the non-profit status of the USEA, and the desire to increase the safety and education of its members, the Board has opted to dedicate funds towards these goals.
It is also important to note that the USEA Foundation, a separate 501c3 organization, continues to raise funds for important programs which benefit safety and education related to the sport of eventing. Donations raised in the past have benefited the Collapsible Fence Study, the Equine Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Research Study and the Roger Haller Scholarship for the Education of Eventing Officials.
