From Dr. Stephanie Caston, Iowa State University:
"We are conducting a study to evaluate event horses in the United States. Data collected will include training, management, and details about the horses (age, breed, etc.). This initial part of the survey takes approximately 10-15 minutes to complete. In an effort to obtain the most accurate information, we will ask that participants complete follow-up surveys throughout the season as well. Should you volunteer to participate, an email reminder will be sent to you periodically. Our hope is to gain knowledge that will help event horse owners, trainers, and the veterinarians who care for them.
The follow up surveys will collect information including if you have completed an event, if there has been an injury, and if training and management practices have changed. If nothing has changed, these follow up surveys will be quite short and likely take 5 minutes or less to complete. If there has been a change or an injury, they will take approximately 10-15 minutes to complete.
This survey is not conducted by the United States Eventing Association (USEA) and its content is solely the responsibility of the investigators/authors. This project does not represent the official views of the USEA. This project is not associated financially in any way with the USEA.
Your participation is completely voluntary and completely confidential. All reported data will be anonymous. The more owners/trainers who participate - the more useful our results will be. The results will be published and shared with the veterinary and eventing community after the completion of the study.
Thank you for your time!"
