The Oregon State University Event Team (OSUET) was founded in 1994 and has been growing and thriving ever since! We strive to provide a unique learning experience for our members that is centered around goal-oriented lessons, inclusive bonding opportunities, and, most importantly, tons of fun for us and our horses.

This coming year, the OSUET expects to have over 30 members with four board members. Our members range from Beginner Novice level to Preliminary and come from all over the country. Some have their own horses but most get to ride Willamette Sport Horses’ exceptional school horses. The board members this year are Mackenzie Johnson (president), myself; Caroline Pearl-Sacks (vice president), Hannah Michalak (secretary), and Annelis Voldengen (treasurer). We have the pleasure of training with Brooke Lacy. Brooke has competed in FEI CCI2* competitions and does an amazing job working with all of our members and their varying abilities.

This coming October, OSUET is excited to host a Halloween Fun Day show for the public that will include costume, jumping, flat, and other fun classes. At our show, we plan to fundraise by having a silent auction and a drawing for a free photoshoot with Carly Pearl-Sacks Photography. We will also be hosting at least one seminar or other educational event per term for our members and provide our members with three to five lessons per term as well.

The board of the OSUET plans to make this one of the best years for our team and are so excited to work with Brooke Lacy and other amazing clinicians and educators during the year.

About the USEA Intercollegiate Eventing Program

The USEA Intercollegiate Eventing Program was established in 2014 to provide a framework within which eventing teams and individual competitors could flourish at universities and colleges across the country. The USEA offers a discount of $25 on annual USEA memberships for current students of universities and colleges registered as Affiliates with the USEA and many events across the country now offer Intercollegiate Team Challenges throughout the year, where collegiate eventers can compete individually as well as on teams with their fellow students.

In Intercollegiate Team Challenges, each rider’s score is multiplied by a coefficient appropriate for their level to account for differences in level difficulty and then the individual scores are added together to determine the team score. Only the best three individual scores will count towards the team score, so teams of four will have one “drop” score. Click here to learn more about the USEA Intercollegiate Eventing Program.

The USEA wants to feature your collegiate eventing team in our Intercollegiate Eventing Spotlight series! Please send your story and photos to Jessica Duffy to be featured.
