Last month, Halt Cancer at X donated $60,000 to organizations in the Flathead Valley providing support and services to cancer patients and their families. This contributes to the over $325,000 that the Halt Cancer at X program has donated to cancer research and support services to date.

"We are honored to fund such a diverse pool of organizations that are working every day to halt cancer," says Halt Cancer at X founder, Sarah Broussard. "It's exciting to see that the money from these grants is going to make a difference, both in our community and at a worldwide level."

Save A Sister

First time recipient, Save a Sister, was awarded the largest grant at $24,000. The Save a Sister initiative is a collaboration among Kalispell Regional Healthcare, North Valley Hospital and the Flathead City-County Health Department. Founded in 2008, Save a Sister improves women's access to screening mammography, educates the community, and promotes breast cancer awareness. The $24,000 grant will allow Save a Sister to establish a screening and support program for women at high-risk of developing breast cancer. Learn more about this organization by clicking here.

Cancer Support Community of Kalispell

Cancer Support Community of Kalispell was awarded $21,000. This organization offers support services for both youth and adults affected by cancer including support groups, education, cooking classes and opportunities for exercise in a safe environment. The Cancer Support Community of Kalispell constructed the Halter Cancer at X Kitchen last year, which hosts many of these programs. Learn more about this organization by clicking here.

Flathead Cancer Aid Services

The Flathead Cancer Aid Services were awarded two grants totaling $10,000. One grant will help fund daily living expenses for breast cancer patients. The other will provide financial assistance for healthy nutritional food and supplements to those affected by cancer. Flathead Cancer Aid Services’ mission is to help men, women and children who are suffering from any type of cancer with daily, non-medical needs that are rarely covered by insurance. Flathead Valley Cancer Chicks

Flathead Valley Cancer Chicks is a group of active survivors who encourage each other as they carry on daily lives after a cancer diagnosis. They were awarded $3,000, which they plan to use for their annual wellness retreat for survivors. You can learn more about this organization by clicking here.
