On March 7 in Tallahassee, Florida, the Red Hills CIC3* will kick off the 2013 Adequan USEA Gold & PRO Tour Series Season. This year is a big one for the Gold Cup as the format has changed to encompass 11 qualifying events with horses and riders earning the opportunity to compete for $40,000 at the year-end final in the Adequan Advanced Division at the Nutrena USEA American Eventing Championships presented by Bit of Britain.

Eleven events at the CIC3* and Advanced Levels are on the schedule for this year’s Gold Cup starting with Red Hills. The winning pair of each qualifying event will earn a spot in the Adequan Advanced Division at the AEC in addition to $500, seven doses of Adequan, Point Two Prize, SmartPak Equine Wellfleet Bridle, a pair of FITS breeches, and $350 worth of Nunn Finer Products.

There are already over 40 competitors entered in the CIC3* including many seasoned Gold Cup competitors. Buck Davidson is riding his 2011 Gold Cup Champion partner, Ballynoe Castle RM as well as his up-and-coming partner, Park Trader.  2009 Gold Cup Champion, Leslie Law, will be competing Zenith ISF in the CIC3*, and the 2008 Intermediate Champion, Jennie Brannigan is entered in the CIC3* aboard Cambalda. Phillip Dutton, the 2005 Gold Cup Champion, rounds out the past Gold Cup winners with two horses entered in the Gold Cup division.

The competition will surely be fierce as Red Hills starts the 2013 race for the keeper of the cup!
