FEI Nations Cup™ Returns to The Great Meadow International in Four Weeks!

The Plains, Virginia - In early July, eventing teams from around the world will converge at the Great Meadow International presented by Adequan®, in The Plains, Virginia to compete in the FEI Nations Cup™ CCIO3*. Hosting the only FEI Eventing Nations Cup™ outside of Europe, the Great Meadow International returns July 7-9.

The Great Meadow International (GMI), one of two finalists to host the proposed new CCI4* event in North America, has quickly made a name for itself in the sport of eventing. GMI has hosted the U.S. eventing prep trials for the 2014 FEI World Equestrian Games (France), the 2015 Pan American Games (Canada), and the 2016 Olympics in Rio de Janerio.

Spectators will have access to boundless opportunities to experience the world-class competition and peruse Great Meadow's expanded Meadow Market, an unparalleled shopping experience with over 75 unique vendors, set in the heart of the competition grounds.

Spectators are encouraged to come out on Friday, July 7 for a "Free on Friday" celebration at the start of the dressage competition followed by a Bareback Puissance class, organized by Grand Prix show jumper Matthias Hollberg of Hollberg Equestrian. The Bareback Puissance class is a high-jumping bareback competition with a $1,000 grand prize.

About The Great Meadow Foundation

Great Meadow was founded through the vision of news executive and philanthropist Arthur W. (Nick) Arundel in 1982. Arundel purchased an abandoned farm then slated to become a housing development for perpetual preservation of open space. The concept for Great Meadow grew out of several converging forces of the 1980s, primarily urban growth pressure on farmland near Washington D.C., the opening of I-66 and the simultaneous loss of the former Virginia Gold Cup course in Warrenton to subdivision development.
