As the fall competition season is in full swing, the USEA Annual Meeting and Convention is quickly approaching! Join us in Fort Lauderdale, Fl. December 7-11 for a long weekend to discuss, learn and enjoy time surrounded by eventing enthusiasts. Learning opportunities are endless. There will be countless seminars, taught by industry professionals, to learn something new, or to learn more on something you’re already passionate about.
The USEA is excited to announce that this year’s USEA Convention will be all about the eventing amateur – you tireless workaholics obsessed with all things eventing! While we love our professionals - they inspire us with their performances, they keep our world spinning on the days when we can’t be at the barn, and they generally keep us from being dangers to ourselves and others - we know that the amateurs are the critical link that makes eventing the exciting and growing sport that it is today. Amateurs, we salute you!
Some of the amateur sessions lined up for this year’s convention:
"Celebrating the Amateur Eventer" Open Amateur Forum
This will be an open forum much like last year's Town Hall Forum, except focusing on amateur issues. For the first hour, speakers will touch on amateur issues, each presenting a topic for 5-10 minutes. Topics to include such items as having more amateur divisions, cross country courses and difficulty, getting new amateurs into the sport, the definition of amateur, keeping down the costs of eventing. Then we will open the floor to discussion for the second hour. We will try to come up with action items out of this forum. Get energized and begin thinking about how to make the sport better and more amateur friendly!
"Completing a USEA Classic Series Three-Day or FEI One Star!"
A goal of many amateur riders around the country is getting to a long format three-day or FEI One Star level, and completing this event. These events are their dream and the reason they put their heart, soul, and financial resources into our sport. How do they get there? What do they need to know? Do they really have what it takes? This session will include several amateur riders/and or trainers explaining how they accomplished this goal. Topics including training, money, horse and rider fitness, competing against the professionals, and more.
“Turning Setbacks into Comebacks” Equestrian Sports Psychology with Daniel Stewart
Enjoy a wonderfully upbeat, motivating, and inspiring seminar based on the best-selling book, Pressure Proof Your Riding. Discover how easy it can be to improve your focus, confidence, and courage by learning a series of unique and surprising tools that’ll help you overcome fears, pressure, mistakes, show jitters, negative memories, perfectionism, doubt and more. This humorous seminar will definitely prove that what’s going on between your ears is just as important as what happens below them!
And more including discussions and seminars regarding one- and two-day events, reducing rider risk, and safety in eventing.
