John H. Fritz

In any organization, any sport, committees and regulations are a necessary "evil." Without rules, chaos takes over. From the very beginning of Combined Training in the United States Jack Fritz has been hard at work helping to build the framework of a viable organization. A list of the official positions he has filled would run to several pages. Among others he has served as Governor and Vice-President of the USCTA and the United States Pony Clubs; Chairman of the AHSA Combined Events and Dressage Committee and as Secretary Treasurer and Director of the USET. He was a founding member of the USDF.

"Ubiquity" is defined as the "state of being in an indefinite number of places at once; omnipresence; the state of existing always without beginning or end." It's an apt description of Jack Fritz. If there is anything to do with combined training going on, Jack will have a hand in it.

Jack Fritz not only spends countless unsung hours drawing up rules and regulations, defining and formulating the precepts by which the sport is governed, he also serves as a judge and technical delegate seeing that these rules are properly enforced. Generations of Pony Clubbers know him as the man who sets the high standards for Pony Club examinations, and many young riders have been encouraged and helped to further their riding careers through his efforts. He is forever giving of his time, travelling all over the country, indeed all over the world, even to far off Australia and New Zealand on official Pony Club and Combined Training functions…There is no part of the sport of combined training that does not owe something to Jack Fritz.
