Acapulco Jazz Retires
Author: Emily DailyThe talented 18-year-old Quarter Horse gelding Acapulco Jazz was retired in a moving ceremony this weekend at the Weatherford CIC**/* in Weatherford, Texas.

After completing the CIC2* on Ashwood Lad, owner and rider, 21-year-old Bonner Carpenter of Dallas was called back to the ring, along with Heather Morris, who had served as Jazz’s groom the prior weekend at the Rolex Kentucky CCI**** , and coach Mike Huber. ( Morris herself was near at hand having just accepted the blue and red ribbons in the CIC** for her stellar performances on Allison Freeman’s Slate River and Lynne Partridge’s First Mark. )
Many of us were disappointed that the Rolex coverage on NBC was thwarted by the Stanley Cup Hockey playoffs yesterday…but fear not! The good folks at NBC have rescheduled the Rolex event to be broadcast later this month.
Rolex Kentucky will re-air on NBC immediately prior to the Preakness Stakes’ broadcast at 3:30PM - 4:30PM ET, Saturday, May 16. More details to follow!

For the first time, all four Horse Radio Network hosts are together in the same room. They all attended the Rolex Three Day Event and got together for a cheese and wine party to reminisce about the wonderful weekend at Rolex. Another great day for the ladies of Europe, although there were some changes in the leader board. Lucinda Fredericks and Bettina Hoy changed places and Lucinda has a narrow lead going into the show jumping tomorrow. Gina Miles joined us to do the wrap up show at the end of the day and we have post ride interviews with the top three after Cross Country.
The European ladies took over the lead today from the European men with some unbelievable dressage tests. Clayton Fredericks joined us for the wrap up show and is a happy husband with Lucinda in 2nd place.
