image Here’s a list of the top ten Christmas items that I’ve compiled… they should be on your list, too! If you’re anything like me, you’ve waited until the very last minute to purchase gifts for family and friends. But fear not - it’s not too late to get all these goodies, but you have to act fast! (or at least wrap up a photo of the gift you’re giving the person…that way at least they can be anticipating it!) In a perfect world, I’d love to receive any (or all!) of these gifts…but perhaps just one or two will do!

image In support of the objectives of the U.S. Equestrian Federation Eventing Safety Summit in Lexington, KY, on June 7-8, the editors of Practical Horseman magazine have generously put together a collection of seven articles on Equisearch.com that address eventing safety, covering topics from riding and training to equine health. These articles are available FREE online and include: eventing tips from Jim Wofford, a two-part series with Brian Sabo on safely jumping coffin jumps, comfortably galloping cross-country fences with Bonnie Mosser, and much more!

These articles are well worth your time - I suggest printing out Jim’s Rating System and taping it on your tack room door. The skills and horsemanship levels are thought-provoking, accurate, and may help you nail down your short- and long-term goals. How do you measure up?

Check out the Eventing Association of Michigan’s (TEAM) website… it’s awesome! http://micheventing.org/ Sure, you say… great design, nice lay-out, lots of pics, but what’s so special about it? Glad you asked… check THIS out. They’ve uploaded an Eventing USA article on “The Guide to Your First Event” in an easy-to-read “techno book” format! Very cool!

If you can’t get to the article from the direct link, visit their web page and click on the top right section of the site that says “Your First Event…”

Do you guys like this format? I’m hoping to do more of this for the Blog - so it is, essentially, an online magazine.

Thursday 050 I stumbled across a fabulous array of articles written by Faith & Ronald Meredith of the Meredith Manor International Equestrian Centre in Waverly, WV, a nationally accredited equestrian career college dedicated exclusively to preparing students for successful careers with horses. Quite an interesting program - I have to say, I’m impressed! If anyone has attended this college or knows someone who did, I’d love to know more about it.

Anyways, the articles cover both riding and training , discussing topics such as common rider faults and fears, relaxation & balance in the saddle, and most importantly (in my opinion), communicating with your horse in a positive and understanding way. I skimmed over several of the articles, and I highly recommend settling down in a nice, comfy couch and a cup of tea and perusing the whole bunch on a rainy day.

Voila! Behold…the most addicting horse game ever. Warning: If you’re at work (not like anyone ever plays computer games at work or anything….*cough*) then turn down the music or you’ll barrage the whole office with the opening banjo music!

Enjoy :)

Horse Jumping Game

P.S. It’s pretty amazing that the little horse can jump from a half-stride perfectly each time… this is NOT helping my problem with seeing distances at all!
