Participants in the US Equestrian (USEF) Emerging Athlete Eventing 25 Program (E25) and the Emerging Athlete Eventing 18 Program (E18) completed their winter training sessions last month. The Emerging Athletes List designates athletes with the potential to evolve into future team candidates.

Senate Bill 534, Protecting Young Victims from Sexual Abuse and Safe Sport Authorization Act of 2017 has been signed into law, becoming effective immediately. The bill imposes a duty on amateur sports organizations, including US Equestrian and its members, to report suspected sex-abuse to local or federal law enforcement or to a child-welfare agency designated by the Justice Department, within 24 hours. Failure to report is subject to criminal penalties.

Julie Norman’s Consensus, the 18-year-old Oldenburg gelding (Contucci x Miss Me Not 2823), passed away during the cross-country phase of competition in the Open Preliminary division at the Ocala Winter I Horse Trials on February 9, 2018. A necropsy determined that “Thomas” suffered an aortic rupture while on cross-country.

The Equiventures Organizing Committee regrets to announce the death of Consensus, an 18-year-old Oldenburg gelding (Contucci x Miss Me Not 2823) owned by Julie Norman and ridden by Adriana Beruvides.Consensus was competing in the Open Preliminary division, collapsed during the cross-country phase between fences 16 and 17 and died of natural causes. Beruvides was attended to on site and then was transferred to Ocala Regional Hospital for further care.

The USEA Area III Young Rider Program is currently accepting resumes/bids for the 2018-2020 competition years for Young Rider Summer Camp Trainers and North American Junior Championship (NAJC) and CICOY Nations Cup Coach. Job descriptions, terms, resume requirements for both positions are listed below. Final selection of these positions will be determined by approval from the Area III Council based on the recommendation from the hiring committee.
