For the past six years over 75 Rebecca Broussard Developing International Rider Grants have been awarded to assist in the development of world-class event riders. From travelling to the Event at Rebecca Farm to training and competing across the country and overseas, the grants have helped offset expenses as riders pursue their eventing dreams of representing the U.S. at international competition.

Temecula, CA June 13, 2017 - Tamra Smith, in conjunction with The West Coast Dempsey Syndicate LLC, regretfully announce that the 9-year-old Dutch Gelding “Dempsey” was humanely euthanized yesterday due to unexpected postoperative complications while in recovery at the University of Montreal Veterinary Hospital.

The United States Eventing Association (USEA) is excited to welcome back Dubarry of Ireland as a sponsor of the 2017 USEA American Eventing Championships, (AEC) presented by Nutrena. New Market, Tennessee – River Glen Horse Trials and the USEA are saddened to report that the 9-year-old Thoroughbred gelding, All Aboard, ridden and owned by Audrea Dyer collapsed and died on course during the Open Intermediate Division of the River Glen June Horse Trials today. The rider was unhurt.All Aboard will undergo necropsy. Samples were collected and will be analyzed as a part of the ongoing USEA Cardiopulmonary Research Study. Our thoughts are with all of the connections to All Aboard at this difficult time.

It is with deep sadness that we announce that Jaeda, a 13-year-old Thoroughbred mare (Persian Star x Sweet Jennifer) ridden by Booli Selmayr and owned by Kelly Morgan, died between obstacles 13AB and 14 while competing on cross-country in the CCI3* at Bromont, Canada at midday on Saturday June 10, 2017. The rider was unhurt.

The sport of eventing has lost a horse who was a staple at upper level events. Kim Severson’s 2014 World Equestrian Games (WEG) mount, Fernhill Fearless, was euthanized on Sunday, May 28th.  The 17-year-old Irish Sport Horse gelding ‘Sparky’ (by Mark Twain) had many great results with Severson in the tack – the highlight being their 23rd place finish at the WEG.

The USEA is looking forward to the second annual USEA Intercollegiate Championships at the Virginia Horse Trials May 25-28, 2017. Competitors are urged to read the previous press release, which includes pertinent information about the Championships, including scoring and team dynamics as well as stabling and prize information. All schools and team riders are encouraged to take a few moments to review it and distribute to other members of their team.
