Capable instructors are essential to the training of riders and their horses for humane, safe and skilled participation in the sport of eventing. The United States Eventing Association's (USEA) Instructors' Certification Program (ICP) seeks to help event instructors at all levels acquire a knowledge base, both theoretical & practical, upon which they can continue to build throughout their teaching lifetime. For USEA certified instructors, this knowledge base will support not only the teaching of event riding and training, but also care of the horse & development of effective & safe teaching methods.  I would like to invite college and Pony Club instructors and their students to participate the USEA Instructor Certification Program Workshops that are being hosted by Stone Gate Farm in 2009.

The teaching of Dressage Workshop, March 21 - 23 will be taught by Jim Graham from Florence, AL http://www.meadowrunfarm.com/bio.htm . Due to unpredictable spring weather in NE OH, this workshop will be held at Armstrong's Saddlery and Trailer Sales' lovely new indoor arena, www.armstrongsts.com .  The Teaching of Jumping Workshop will be taught Robin Walker from Grass Lake, MI at Stone Gate Farm, the site of two USEA recognized horse trials.

The enrollment for participating instructors is limited to 8; however, the workshops are open to auditors.  In an effort to aid in the development of young equestrians, Stone Gate Farm is offering discounts for auditing the USEA ICP Workshops for all Pony Club members, college students who are enrolled in Equestrian Studies programs as well as their instructors. In addition, there will be unmounted lessons which will include, saddle fitting, bits and their uses, bandaging, walking and setting courses, conditioning, the use of studs etc

The workshops will need a minimum of nine riders a day to for the participating instructors to teach.  Any rider who is competing @ the Novice level or above in eventing, Training level or above in dressage (for the dressage workshop only) or a C 1 or above in Pony Club is welcome to apply.  It's a great opportunity for free lessons as well as getting input from the ICP faculty members.

More information on the ICP Program can be found on the USEA website http://www.useventing.com/education.php?section=instructors .  Registration forms can be found on the SGF website www.stonegatefarm.org under the 'clinic' tab.

If you have any questions please feel free to contact me at Jackie@stonegatefarm.org .  I'm hoping you will be able to attend the ICP Workshops and perhaps you could forward this to others who may be interested.
